Wyndham businessman Paul Hopper has launched The West Party, aiming to contest every seat in Melbourne’s western suburbs at the 2026 Victorian state election. Positioning itself as a centrist alternative for disillusioned Labor voters, the party focuses on key local issues such as public safety, health, education, infrastructure and employment. Hopper emphasises a non-ideological approach, stating, “We’re not left, we’re not right, we’re west,” underlining the party’s commitment to addressing the specific needs of the western suburbs.
