Working Families at the Heart of Melbourne’s Middle West
Kororoit stretches across Melbourne’s middle-western suburbs, encompassing areas including Albanvale, Cairnlea, Kings Park, Deer Park, Burnside, Burnside Heights and Caroline Springs. It is a predominantly residential district of working and middle-class families – a district that is growing, busy and too often overlooked by parties who tend to focus attention on inner-city electorates.
The Kororoit district is diverse in every sense. It is home to large Greek, Vietnamese, Filipino and Indian communities, alongside long-established Australian families and newer arrivals from across the globe. Housing is mostly detached dwellings, car dependency is high and access to quality services, particularly healthcare and mental health, remains a persistent challenge.

Deer Park Station
Deer Park is one of the only rail access points for the district and it’s not enough. Many residents still rely on buses or long drives just to reach a train.
We’ll push for expanded train access, better connections, and a transport network that actually serves the west.
Sunshine Hospital
Sunshine Hospital services a huge portion of Melbourne’s west, including Kororoit, but demand continues to grow. Access, wait times and capacity remain ongoing concerns.
We’ll fight for expanded healthcare services closer to home, so families aren’t stretched when they need care most.
Caroline Springs Town Centre
Caroline Springs is a key hub for shopping, dining and community life — but rapid growth is putting pressure on roads, services and infrastructure.
We’ll push for smarter planning, better roads and investment that keeps pace with the people living here.

Public Transport
Public transport in Kororoit is a persistent issue. Caroline Springs has limited train access and relies heavily on bus services connecting to Watergardens or Sunshine stations. Deer Park has a V/Line stop but no Metro train services. Car dependency is extremely high and residents in the outer parts of the district can face commutes of over an hour to reach the CBD by public transport. This is one of the district’s most significant quality-of-life issues.
Crime & Community Safety
The Brimbank local government area, which covers much of Kororoit, has historically recorded crime rates above the Victorian average, with property crime (particularly car theft, burglary and theft from motor vehicles) among the most commonly reported offences. Community safety in the outer parts of the district is a regular concern, with calls for improved street lighting, CCTV coverage and visible policing.
