Andrew Elsbury
I am standing in the 2026 Victorian State election because we have been let down by the major parties. Too driven by ambition and ideology, the major parties have become riven with their factional battles for power which has left the important task of representing our needs as a lesser priority.
Twelve years ago I left Parliament because the party I represented at the time failed to deliver. The sad fact is that many of the projects I fought for back then are still left unfinished: Sayers Road duplication, traffic lights at Hogans and Derrimut Road, improved vocational education in our community, greater police protection, improved access to health care and an employment precinct which would draw skills and high demand jobs into this city.
I believe in service to my community and a strong way to serve is to be a representative who has no other priority than to bring the concerns of my neighbours to the forum of the Victorian Parliament.
Unlike the major parties who push a narrow band of policies, parroting lines they spread to the electorate, I and the members of the West Party will be taking your needs, gripes and bugbears to Parliament, more concerned about getting real results than seeking to further our careers to one day become a government minister.
I welcome ideas and insights, I’m willing to consult broadly to hear your views. While we might disagree from time to time, I will seek to find the best way forward for the electorate and the thousands of people who call Hoppers Crossing, Tarneit and increasingly Mount Cottrell home.

About Andrew
Andrew Elsbury is committed to the Tarneit community. He was brought up in Hoppers Crossing, built his family’s first home in Tarneit and has raised his children in the region. Andrew has a deep connection with the people of this electorate – they are his friends, family and neighbours.
Andrew believes in volunteering, having held roles in the former Tarneit North Residents Association and more recently as President of the Hoppers Crossing Soccer Club. Among other commitments, Andrew is President of the Wyndham Brickfest charity group who raise funds for children’s health initiatives in the City of Wyndham through an annual Lego® exhibition.
Andrew comes with the experience of serving as a member of parliament from 2010 to 2014. Like many he is disillusioned by the major parties who have let our community down as crime impacts people we know, roads continue to be congested and schools are overcrowded for the population they are serving.
Andrew has not just held office jobs but has worn high-vis for more than just photoshoots. He has been a labourer in a fencing company, worked in manufacturing and for a time drove an Uber.
Andrew believes that we all deserve better in Tarneit and needs your support in November so he can support you.
